Name: Margie Beiswanger

Business Name: Transform Your Brilliance

In a few words or sentences, tell me about your work:

Truth be told, I’m a scientist. For 25 years, I was a happy and curious researcher, teacher, and university administrator. But in 2009, I decided to engage in a different sort of “science” altogether. I got my Life Coach Certification and built a successful business while working full time. I was busy. Busy and deliriously happy. Over time, my friends and colleagues noticed this – and how successful my business was – and they started asking me for advice on how to grow their businesses. And I realized: This is my calling. I have a gift for helping people discover how to share their gifts so they can make a great living. And that, combined with my scientist’s mind for working methodically and really thinking things through, gave birth to Transform Your Brilliance.

Tell us three words that describe you:

passionate, intuitive, productive

How do you “live your brand?”

I consider my brand to be colorful, energetic, and passionate. Those are pretty good descriptors of how I lead my life, as well. I’m an extrovert who loves to meet new people and try new things. My days are full of activity balanced with some “down time” because I do need to recharge my batteries. I crave variety and have that built into my week. I work with clients, work on business-building projects, meet with my mastermind group and my coach, workout, volunteer, read as much as possible (one of my favorite down time activities), and socialize. I love my life!

I also highly value relationships – in business and in my personal life – so I make sure that I’m in touch with my sisters, my dear friends, and my peers on a weekly basis. I enjoy interacting with other entrepreneurs and coaches so I devote time to socializing and learning from them. I love office supplies and creative art supplies. The more colorful, the better! To get my “fix” of art and right-brain creativity I lead acrylic painting classes at a local studio. Oh, and I love to travel, so I make sure that I’ve got plenty of travel opportunities planned each year.

What are some of your favorite ways to be recognized for your expertise?

The success of my clients. Their surprise and delight when their business expands and grows because they have the confidence to tap into their gifts and expertise like never before. I love helping them identify their own definition of success and then laying out a step-by-step path to reach that personalized vision of success. There is nothing better than that.

Tell me about the best business decision you have made:

Honestly? The best business decision I made was to keep interviewing and hiring my own business coaches.

And your hardest lesson you have learned:

That it takes time to build a successful, thriving business. More time that you think, most likely. More time than some people are willing to invest. I don’t care what someone promises you. It doesn’t matter what they say they can deliver to you as a new business owner – it takes time to create a thriving sustainable business. Even the so-called ‘overnight success’ is really a lot of time, effort, and step-by-step commitment that has culminated in success.

What’s next for your business?

I’m open to discovering where my business will lead me and how it will continue to evolve. I love being a business owner and helping others to build their businesses. What that will look like next is yet to unfold. In the meantime, I’m thoroughly enjoying the journey.

The “Behind the Scenes” Scoop:

Guilty pleasure: Reading a novel from cover to cover while barely moving a muscle. Sitting somewhere comfy and reading without interruption. Now that’s a good day.

Favorite hobby: Oh, that changes regularly. I’m currently painting up a storm. Acrylics, mostly. But who knows what’ll be next. It was knitting for a few years, stained glass before that …

All-time favorite musical, theatre production, book, movie or song – Why?
I hate to disappoint, but I could never choose. So many favorite books and movies (so little time!).

Pet peeve: When someone is late and doesn’t acknowledge it.

For lunch today: Whole wheat wrap with romaine, grape tomatoes, grilled chicken breast strips, and a dollop of guacamole. A “side” of fruit, whipped into a green smoothie: frozen apple slices, mandarin orange, chopped kale, 2 drops orange essential oil (suitable for dietary use), ice water. Yummy and energizing for the afternoon’s agenda. (And no, I don’t always eat this healthy. But I try.)

Just for Fun:

Snow or Beach? Ahhh, the beach. Oh how I love the beach. Lakeside beach, coastal beach, Caribbean island beach? Yes, please!

Chocolate or Vanilla? It depends on my mood. But if you offer me chocolate ice cream with marshmallow topping, I’m all yours!
